Press releases are a great way to get more traffic and generate a large amount of leads, in most cases for FREE.
The best part about press releases is that they are very easy to do and you can benefit from them for a long period of time.
There are a couple of ways press releases can help you get traffic
The first way you can get traffic from one press release is from natural search engine listings.
What that means is that you write your press release with certain keywords and the search engines will list that press release on the search rankings, many times in the top ten for those keywords.
The second way is actually getting traffic from the submission services themselves.
If you have good content in your press release, and you are using certain keywords, the submission service will list your release on their site for others to read, search for, and use for their own promotions, giving you tons of exposure.
So what is a press release…
A press release is basically an announcement or explanation of a product or service.
Usually they are anywhere from two paragraphs to 1 1/2 pages long containing the link to your site at the bottom.
There are 5 steps to creating a press release
STEP 1. First you need a title for your release. The title serves two purposes:
1: The goal of your title is to capture the readers attention and qualify them as a targeted prospect for your message. You don’t want just anyone to read your release, you want to speak directly to your target market.
2: You want it to contain the keywords you want to be indexed by google and the other search engines.
STEP 2. Create a summary.
The second part of a press release is the summary which is usually 2 – 4 sentences long. The summary should be relevant and expand on the title.
STEP 3.The third part of your release is the body which can be anywhere from two paragraphs to a full page in length.
The goal of the body is to give people just enough information about your product or service without getting into too much detail, so the only way for them to learn more is go to your site.
STEP 4. Creating your call to action.
At the end of your body, you need to have a call to action which will send them to your capture page. This is where you give them website address to your site.
NOTE: You want to use a tracking link for your website address so you can tell how much traffic your press release generated for you. Most autoresponder companies come with tracking link capabilities, or you can use hypertracker.com.
STEP 5. Submitting your release.
Most press release services are free but they do have paid options also. sometimes it’s a good idea to try both and see which produces better results.

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

Hey Joe, I’m enjoying your blog quite a bit. Thanks for sharing the additional press release distribution websites I wasn’t aware of. That will prove very valuable to my business. Note: I personally don’t think “over a page” is good. I would leave it one page max. and I would emphasize on packing as many ATTENTION GETTERS in your “summary” as possible, because a lot of people will not read past the 2nd paragraph. After reading this, I have a feeling you might work with Mandee Widrick, God Bless Brother Curt
